The duties and responsibilities for a Financial Administration Specialist, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Evaluate, plan, and direct the analytical and evaluative work for critical functions related to the management of budget and finance plans and programs.
  • Provide guidance regarding the recording and control of obligations, accounts payable, cost accruals, and disbursements.
  • Prepare monthly status of funds reports and allocation tables.
  • Oversee the establishment and maintenance of obligation and document control registers to monitor, reconcile and control obligations of all funds.
  • Perform special audits, studies, or reviews to determine reliability and accuracy of accounting reports and financial statements.

Qualifications

To qualify for the position of Financial Administration Specialist, (GS-0501-13), you must possess the required specialized experience specific to this series and grade.

If you are a current Department of Justice employee on a permanent appointment in the competitive service, you will need to demonstrate 1-year (52-weeks) at the next lower grade level, to meet the time-in-grade requirements for this occupational series and grade.

Specialized Experience: For the GS-13, you must have one year of specialized experience at the GS-12 grade level or equivalent pay band in the Federal Service, which includes: Developing budgetary or financial policies; Evaluating the efficiency or effectiveness of financial program processes or procedures; AND Resolving complex financial or budget data problems.

You will be evaluated for this job based on how well you meet the qualifications above.
