Duties

Help
  • Provide counseling, instruction and guidance to OB/GYN patients on a variety of topics to include family planning, sexually transmitted diseases, breast-feeding, nutrition, prenatal growth and development and preparation for childbirth.
  • Plan, direct, supervise and coordinate the functions, work operations and day-to-day activities of the OB/GYN Outpatient Clinic.
  • Establish workflow and functional assignments; determine and distribute work assignments to meet workload demands, set priorities and prepare schedules for completion of work.
  • Formulate employee training plans and ensure employees receive formal and on-the-job training.
  • Initiate formal actions to fill vacancies, interview candidates for vacant positions, make selections for appointment, promotion or reassignment actions, establish performance standards and prepare performance appraisals.
  • As the Clinical Nurse In Charge (CNOIC), perform and execute supervisory duties of all allocated Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses and Nurse Assist clinical staff.

  • This position requires at least one contact (i.e. patient encounter) per week or at least four (4) contacts per month with children under the age of 18.
  • Must successfully complete pre-placement and annual medical examinations.
  • This position is a Testing Designated Position (TDP) subject to applicant testing and random drug testing.
  • This position requires screening for required immunizations and for evidence of tuberculosis.
  • This position may require use of protective clothing and/or uniform.
  • This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is therefore subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations.
  • Must possess and maintain a current Basic Life Support (BLS) training and certification from the American Heart Association or Military Training Network.
  • Incumbent may be required to report to work during periods of inclement weather.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid unrestricted stateside driver's license.
  • This position may require travel to outlying clinics by privately owned conveyance or government-owned vehicle.
  • This position may require overtime work.
  • This position may require 5% travel.

Basic Requirement for Supervisory Nurse (Clinical/Administrative Obstetrics-Gynecology):

Degree:
A graduate or higher level degree, bachelor's degree, associate degree, or diploma from an accredited professional nursing educational program is required. This education must have been accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs, Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)

Licensure: A current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States; and you must have passed the National Council Licensure Examination.

Foreign Degree: A degree from a Foreign Nursing School. Official certification from the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools is required for individuals who graduated from foreign nursing schools.

Exemption: You are exempt from the basic requirements above if you are a current federal employee occupying a position in the 0610occupational series and have been continuously employed in this occupational series since September 27, 2017 or before. Applicants claiming this exemption must meet the requirement below. Note: You will be required to provide appropriate documentation to the respective Human Resources Office to validate your status.

Degree or diploma from a professional nursing program approved by the legally designated State accrediting agency at the time the program was completed by the applicant.

Active, current registration as a professional nurse in a State, District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.

In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:

Professional Nursing Experience: One or more full years of professional nursing experience which includes providing nursing care to obstetric or gynecological patients, developing policies and overseeing personnel.

Education

FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
