Duties

Help
  • Serves as the Southwest Region's advisor in the field of Indian trust real estate management.
  • Assists in planning, developing, and implementing the trust real estate services program in processing applications for patents, removal of restrictions, disposals, acquisitions, rights-of-way, surface, and subsurface leasing.
  • Provides technical assistance in all areas of real estate management and decision-making activities.
  • Audits real estate management practices, transactions, and legal instruments preparation.
  • Monitors the collection of trust funds from realty transactions.
  • Coordinates recordation activities with the Land Title and Records Office, agencies, and tribes; and assists in corrective actions to cure title defects.
  • Implements operational policies, techniques, and procedures to assure the correlation of activities to accomplish management objectives.
  • Assists in the preparation of response to bills introduced in Congress affecting the management of Indian trust lands and resources.
  • Reviews the progress of realty programs to make recommendations to meet operational requirements and establish priorities.
  • Assist in the supervision of the work of Regional realty staff.

Qualifications

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: (OPM Operating Manual, Qualification Standards for Administrative and Management Positions, GS-1170.)

GS-13: Qualifying is 1 year of specialized experience equivalent, comparable to the GS-12 grade level in the federal service. Specialized experience includes, but is not limited to, work which involves providing oversight in realty functions for a unit; planning work to be accomplished by subordinates and meeting deadlines; providing technical assistance in the acquisition on real property; management of real property in the administration of federally owned, Indian-owned, or leased space or property; preparation for disposal, or disposal of real property requiring a knowledge of real estate laws, principles, practices, and markets; providing technical assistance to optimize the use of Federal Indian trust real property resources to assure legal and procedural compliance.

Merit Promotion candidates must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the announcement closing date.

This is a supervisory position. Under provision of the Civil Service Reform Act, first-time supervisors are required to serve a one year supervisory probationary period before their appointment becomes final.
