The incumbent will serve as an Emergency Management Specialist in the Security Programs staff located in the Criminal Division, Office of Administration. The Security Programs staff is responsible for personnel security, physical security, information security, and emergency management programs in the Criminal Division.
Summary
The incumbent will serve as an Emergency Management Specialist in the Security Programs staff located in the Criminal Division, Office of Administration. The Security Programs staff is responsible for personnel security, physical security, information security, and emergency management programs in the Criminal Division.
Develop and administer the Division's emergency management programs and ensure supporting documentation is maintained and up to date.
Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations, as well as Departmental policies and directives.
Coordinate disaster response or crisis management activities, providing recommendations and advice to senior level staff as required.
Evaluate the conformance of programs and program actions to available guides, such as pertinent laws, regulations, policies, and precedents that affect the use of program and related resources.
Participate in development and delivery of classes and briefings on emergency preparation, procedures, and processes.
Recognize hazardous or potentially hazardous conditions, develop measures to eliminate or control these conditions and effectively communicate the appropriate measures to resolve these problems.

Qualifications
To qualify at the GS-11 grade level, applicant must have one of the following:
One (1) year of specialized experience at, or equivalent to, the GS-9 grade level. Examples of specialized experience include: participation in working groups on emergency preparedness; preparation of policies and procedures related to emergency management; and providing training to organization personnel in emergency response policy and procedure; OR
PhD or equivalent doctoral degree or three full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree; OR
A combination of specialized experience and education.
Combination of Education and Experience - Your current education completed is credited as a percentage of the education required for the grade level and your current experience is credited as a percentage of the total experience required for the grade level. The two percentages are added and must equal 100% in order to qualify for the desired grade level.
All academic degrees and coursework must be completed at a college or university that has obtained accreditation or pre-accreditation status from an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. For a list of schools that meet this criteria, see www.ed.gov.
