Summary

About the Position: The U.S. Military Entrance Processing Command, headquartered in North Chicago, IL, is a jointly staffed command, staffed by representatives of all branches of the Armed Forces. The command, through its 66 military processing locations (Military Entrance Processing Stations (MEPS)/Remote Processing Stations (RPS), determines whether applicants are qualified for enlistment based on standards set by each of the services.

Duties

Help
  • As an Equal Employment Specialist, you will:
  • Compile, Extract and analyze information and statistical data from a variety of sources to prepare Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) reports and case file.
  • Advise EEO Manager and other management level staff on EEO related problems (i.e., promotions, development, training, recruitment, etc. ) affecting the groups represented in special emphasis programs.
  • Assist in developing and implementing the Command's EEO Program as mandated by EEOC Directives.
  • Ensure compliant files are properly assembled, tabbed, and completed prior to forwarding to the Equal Opportunity Compliance and Complaints Review Office, Department of the Army.
  • Analyze, draw conclusion, development program plans, implement and evaluate application of EEO principles to identify and/or resolve problems of a systemic nature.
  • These duties are described at the full performance level GS-11. The GS-07 and GS-9 levels are developmental leading to the full performance level.

**Telework eligible position - Position has an official duty location of North Chicago, IL and is eligible for Situational Telework at the discretion of the Command. Specialized Experience GS-07: To qualify based on your work experience, your resume must clearly describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as experience that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled such as: Advising employees/applicants on various courses of action available on filing of Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) complaints; Loading data into automated systems on assigned EEO cases; Supporting senior staff by making initial contact with employees and managers to obtain and documenting information on EEO complaints. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).

Education Substitution GS-07: I have successfully completed one full academic year of graduate-level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Human Resources Management; Business Administration/Management, Psychology, Sociology. Superior Academic Achievement: Successful completion of all the requirements for a bachelor's degree with Superior Academic Achievement. In order to be creditable under this provision, Superior Academic Achievement must have been gained in a curriculum that is qualifying for the position to be filled, such as that identified in Education above. Superior Academic Achievement is based on: (1) Class Standing - Applicants must be in the upper third of the graduating class in the college, university, or major subdivision, such as the College of Liberal Arts or the School of Business Administration, based on completed courses. Time in Grade Requirements:

GS-7: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-05).

GS-9: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).

GS-11: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).
