This position will be filled under the Office of Personnel Management's Direct Hire Authority and is open to all United States citizens and U.S. nationals. As a Fish and Wildlife Biologist your duties will include but are not limited to the following:
Oversee management and use of the Fisheries Information System (FIS)/ECOSphere computer tracking system to document and report FAC projects and activities, funding needs, and work accomplishments for the FAC across the Region.
Provide regional coordination for the FAC program on developing, integrating, and implementing complex and innovative data acquisition tools and techniques, databases, applications, and tools to support natural resource data management.
Support regional office and FAC field station staff in the development, training and use of various tools, techniques, and systems for capturing and managing and reporting data for natural resource planning and management.
Work with regional and national team efforts involving data managers from internal and external partners, other agencies and organizations to identify data management needs and priorities and coordinate activities

Qualifications
Only experience and education obtained by 07/08/2024 will be considered.
In order to qualify for this position you must possess both the Basic Requirement and Minimum Qualification.
Basic Requirement:
Degree in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position. OR
A combination of education and experience that includes courses equivalent to a major in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position PLUS appropriate experience or additional education. As a whole, this combination is comparable to successful completion of a full 4-year course of study with a major as described in (1) above.
Minimum Qualification [GS-12]
One year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service in the field of or directly related to the position to be filled. Qualifying experience includes: (1) using relational database management systems and common programming languages; (2) using operating systems, web and database servers, networks, and a broad range of hardware and software applications to manage spatial and biological data sets; (3) collecting, managing, synthesizing, and analyzing biological data; (4) participating in diverse work groups to meet objectives and timelines; (5) using data and study results to inform the resolution of natural resource data management problems.
Minimum Qualification [GS-13]
One year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service in the field of or directly related to the position to be filled. Qualifying experience includes: (1) designing and using relational database management systems and common programming languages; (2) using operating systems, web and database servers, networks, and a broad range of hardware and software applications to manage spatial and biological data sets; (3) providing advice, coordination, and technical expertise regarding biological data collection, management, synthesis, and analysis; (4) managing diverse work groups to meet objectives and timelines; (5) developing, applying, and adapting new approaches and/or creative solutions to resolve complex or controversial natural resource data management problems.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
