WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING DAY TO DAY

As a Supervisory IT Specialist (INFOSEC), you will use your knowledge of and experience to optimize business results and customer experience by:

  • Supervising a team of professionals, including subordinate supervisors (branch chiefs). Coordinating and overseeing both Federal and contractor resources: providing technical requirements and description of work to be accomplished; planning and establishing work schedules, deadlines, and standards for acceptable work; tracking program and quality of performance; and making work assignments and establishing priorities.
  • Providing leadership and direction to IT oversight of periodic vulnerability assessments of all computer systems in the DTM production-operating environment.
  • Participating in technical and non-technical exchange meetings. Working with technical and non-technical support personnel to identify requirements and follow up to ensure implementations are completed. Interacting and working with internal and external customers/stakeholders to ensure communication at all levels.
  • Reviewing proposed new systems and software designs for potential security risks, mitigation or countermeasures. Resolving integration issues related to the implementation of new systems within the existing infrastructure.
  • Identifying and collecting necessary data including IT trends, legislative and program data and interviews with senior management, program officials, employees, and supervisors; assembling and assessing information gathered; formulating findings, conclusions, and recommendations; presenting results in written and/or oral form which are well-organized, supportable, and clearly expressed.
  • Overseeing the reviews and evaluation of requests for hardware, software, and related services for compliance with HHS and Federal security regulations and guidelines, and for validity of requirements.
  • Developing policies, guidelines, and standards for the planning, development, integration, implementation, and evaluation of IT systems and subsystems that meet overall information needs of multiple major organizational units.

Basic Qualifications: Must meet the items listed below:

  3. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.
  4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.

Minimum Qualifications: In addition to the basic qualification requirement above, you must have one-year specialized experience to perform successfully the duties of the position. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-14 grade level in the Federal service performing at least five (5)of the following:
  1. Conducting program and systems analyses to identify and understand the impacts, needs, and/or preferences of IT programs.
  2. Developing IT strategies to optimize and secure the operational environment.
  3. Developing data integration and/or security strategies to align with the agency's data strategy.
  4. Implementing Investment and IT governance board to review agency-wide IT investments and provide recommendations for consolidation, optimization, and/or integration.
  5. Identifying the best IT tools are procured, integrated, and deployed to manage the development, operational, and security of the agency's IT systems.
  6. Communicating technical theories and strategies to non-technical people so that stakeholders understand the impact of technology on their respective programs.

If such experience is on a part-time basis, you must provide the average number of hours worked per week as well as the beginning and ending dates of the experience so it can be fully credited.
