Duties

Help

As an Engineering Equipment Operator, your duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Operate a variety of tracked and wheeled heavy equipment, such as excavators, dump trucks, motor-grader, agricultural and articulating tractors with implements, and dozers up to the D6 size.
  • Operate a farm-type tractor and attached towed equipment on level and rolling terrain to mow, plow, spray, plant or dig ditches.
  • Maintain and/or repair tools and equipment including welders, oxygen/acetylene torches, grinders, metal saws, industrial hydraulic pumps and other related equipment.
  • Service and repair equipment that includes checking fluids, lubricating, replacing components that require dismantling of the equipment such as radiators, hydraulic tanks, alternators, tracks, and excavator bucket teeth and rebuilding components.
  • Operate power tools and specialty equipment, including handsaws, power saws, power planers, plumb bobs, mercury gauges, dividers, closet augers, hydrostatic pumps, industrial hydraulic pumps, lead pots, pipe threaders and cutters, soldering irons, electrical circuit testing equipment and gas and electrical welders.

Although no specific amount of experience, education or training is required, applicants must meet a minimum level of ability in relation to the position and the Assessment Questionnaire in order to be rated qualified for consideration. To be qualified candidates must meet any screen out element(s) listed at an "acceptable" level, and must achieve an average rating of at least "acceptable" on all of the elements. Only education, training, or experience acquired before the closing date of this announcement will be considered.
