Duties

Help
  • Responsible for conceiving, formulating and establishing policy and objectives, which ensure OH, medical emergency response, and PRP support services, are within appropriate legal and regulatory requirements
  • Provide leadership, expert advice, mentoring and direction on program requirements and procedures to DA installations participating in the OH, PRP, ASAP, and safety programs
  • Plan and conduct program reviews to evaluate the effectiveness of medical support to DA installation personnel reliability programs, to ensure that these meet the criteria and are in compliance with regulations and laws.
  • Provide technical input to develop, revise or update TB MEDs, MEDCOM circulars, MEDCOM regulations, or DA Pamphlets/Regulations relating to chemical agent medical surveillance guidance, and evolving surety medicine policies or practices.
  • Apply sound judgment and originality in developing innovative and unique methods of problem solving and evaluation.
  • Review and analyze results from DA installations regarding medical support to surety programs.
  • Must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.

  • All Health Care Providers must be able to obtain and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) training and certification that is sponsored or endorsed by the American Heart Association (AHA).
  • Applicants must be able to fulfill credentialing requirements and obtain and maintain appropriate/relevant clinical privileges.
  • Must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and work experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). Basic Requirement for Nurse: Degree: A graduate or higher-level degree, bachelor's degree, associate degree, or diploma from an accredited professional nursing educational program is required. This education must have been accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs, Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.

Degree from Foreign Nursing School: Official certification from the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools is required for individuals who graduated from foreign nursing schools. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:

Experience: At least one full year of professional nursing experience (equivalent to the GS-12). Professional Nursing Experience is defined as:
1.) managing occupational health services and other administrative nursing functions including occupational health surveillance and quality assurance/improvement programs; 2.) performing worksite visits; 3.) onsite/jobsite health hazard awareness and prevention.

For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

Licensure/Certification: Applicants must have passed the National Council Licensure Examination and possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
