This is a temporary Pathways Student Trainee (intern) position.  The intern will work with economists, statisticians, and policy experts on quantitative tasks using statistical software (e.g. Stata, R, SAS), other policy research tasks, and/or on industry analysis related tasks.  Receives research and other assignments from supervisor . Duties assigned include economic research and analysis involving the systematic collection and interpretation of statistical data. Incumbent will work with senior staff to analyze the data collected, including statistical analysis as appropriate.  Assists Economists and other more senior staff in ensuring the quality of data collection, and incumbent performs these data collection activities in an efficient manner.  Assists in the gathering, compiling, reviewing, analyzing and developing reports on relevant telecommunications and media activities.  Assists in the preparation of presentation materials based on data from various automated systems and software.  Assists Economists and other more senior staff in the collection, compilation, and analysis of economic data as an adjunct to the policy and rulemaking process and in the development of standards, procedures, and forms for the authorization and regulation relating to telecommunications and media sectors.

Qualifications

  • A degree seeking student in the field of Economics, Data Science, or another related field and must have completed at least two years of post-high school education.

  • Enrolled in a school that has been accredited by an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.

  • A written sample or project demonstrating proficiency in performing data analysis through the use of a statistical program or language.
  • Enrolled at least half-time as defined by your school.
  • Be in good academic standing (i.e., must have at least a 3.0 GPA or its equivalent).
  • Students must provide a Cover Letter describing their interest in the Office of Economics and Analytics (OEA).
  • US Citizen or if you are not a citizen you must meet one the following criteria:  1. owe permanent allegiance to the United States (for example, natives of American Samoa and Swains Island); 2. be a lawfully admitted for permanent residence and seeking citizenship as outlined in 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)(B); or 3. be admitted as a refugee under 8 U.S.C. 1157 or have been granted asylum under 8 U.S.C. 1158 and have filed a declaration of intention to become lawful permanent resident and then citizen when eligible.

Must have completed 2 full academic years of post-high school study or an associate's degree. Must be actively enrolled as a current student. TRANSCRIPTS MUST BE SUBMITTED.

Pathways Program - U.S. CITIZEN OR NON-U.S.CITIZEN EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:
