Help
  • You will lead among management officials and rank and file employees in eradicating discrimination and achieving objectives of the program.
  • You will advise managers and supervisors on the Equal Employment Opportunity complaint process to assist them with their responsibilities.
  • You will select and train counselors who are available to employees/applicants that believe they are being discriminated against because of race, color, religion, sex (including sexual harassment),age, national origin or physical or mental handicap.
  • You will supervise and coordinate special emphasis programs for the Special Emphasis Program Managers.
  • You will manage, develop and administer the district program for processing informal and formal EEO complaints of discrimination.
  • You will evaluate and prepare reports on the EEO Program.
  • You will consult with employees regarding EEO rights and responsibilities.

In order to qualify, you must meet the Experience/Education requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience for GS-11: One-year of specialized experience which includes administering, delivering, maintaining, advising, and adapting advanced concepts, principles, and theories of Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) to the unique organizational, management, and mission requirements. Experience assisting in the development of Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) policies and procedures. Experience advising management employees on Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) principles and practices.
OR
Successfully completed a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M. in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work of the position, such as Human Resources Management, Business Administration, Law, or Psychology. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)
OR
Have the specialized experience as described above, but less than one year; and I have at least two years of graduate education as described in B, but less than the required three years. I have computed the percentage of the requirements that I meet, and the total is at least 100% (To compute the percentage, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then, divide your semester hours of graduate education beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify.). (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)

Specialized Experience for GS-12: One year of specialized experience which includes overseeing and monitoring an Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) complaint processing system to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements; interpreting and applying EEO program guidance and processing claims; briefing senior leaders on EEO products such as the MD 715 report, case status log and reasonable accommodation actions; providing logistical support and assistance to investigators, administrative law judges, and legal counselors in processing formal complaints; experience in the use of fact-finding, problem solving, and negotiating resolutions of problems between management and employees; preparing EEO reports; advising or training employees and managers on equal opportunity rights. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job at the GS-12 grade, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

You will be evaluated for this job based on how well you meet the qualifications above.
