Duties

Help

Applies experience and detailed knowledge applicable to forecasting, monitoring, coordinating and control of assigned inventory items required for the effective and efficient maintenance and operation of the NAS. Typical assignments include: collecting and recording data/information, conducting research, identifying problems and assisting higher level professionals in day-to-day operations.

Coordinates with a manager, project/program manager, team leader or more experienced professional to plan time and use assigned resources to accomplish tasks. Tasks includes assisting in various areas such as: providing comments/recommendations to support long-range, multi-year programming and budget proposals, equipment requirements, and source development efforts. Provides support with actions to correct program deficiencies to management, team members and other government and commercial organizations.

Established policies/procedures provide detailed guidance for almost all assignments, with little or no room for discretion. Work under detailed instructions provided by a manager, project/program manager, team leader or more experienced professional to assist and provide support in developing and coordinating initial distribution plans with Headquarters programs and maintenance offices for replacement equipment required to resolve support deficiencies resulting from obsolescence. Assists higher level professionals with formulating short and long range supply support requirements.

Assists and provides support to accomplish a full range of inventory management required to support operating and facilities and equipment (F&E) programs/projects for assigned items under the close direction of a manager, project/program manager, team lead or more experienced professional. Assists in determining appropriate stock and repair levels using analytical tools such as Repair Level Analysis and Spare Qualifications. Provides support and assistance with coordinating plans and objectives for F&E inventory management, F&E and National Stock and Stores (NSS) budget, and repair services using established policies and procedures. Assists in developing long-range budget and spending plans. Provides support in the development of purchase/repair specifications and statement of work for acquisition and development of schedules for commercial contractors and FAA Logistics Center shops to affect optimum support.

Acts as a member of a team for F&E projects/programs to provide support to inter-organizational committees and assists in the following areas; identifying, assigning resolution responsibility, and providing resolution for supply support issues. Refers problems and work issues to a manager, project/program manager, team leader, or more experienced professional when guidelines are not available or applicable.

Contacts are internal and external to the organizational unit with a manager and other employees to share information, provide data and/or written analyses, and discuss the statuses of assignments. Depending on the specialty, may have contacts with customers and other external parties on routine matters such as gathering information, explaining regulations, and discussing the customer's situations.

Work is reviewed frequently during assignments and at completion to ensure timeliness and all aspects of quality. Work activities support activities of the organizational unit, may affect project/program objectives for the major subdivision, System Program Offices, Washington Item Managers and the LOB/SO. The work may affect internal and external customers.

Qualifications

TO QUALIFY AT THE FV-G (FG-10/11) level, you must demonstrate in your application that you possess one (1) year of Specialized Experience equivalent to the FV-F (FG/GS 5-9) level. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position.

Specialized Experience includes experience with inventory control regulations and policies; experience recording and tracking inventory activity and needs; experience selecting alternative source of supply; and coordination and control on inventory items.

Education Substitution: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree OR 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree OR LL.M., if related
