In this position, you will serve as Supervisory Emergency Management Specialist. Typical assignments include:
Supervisor for up to 8 assigned Hazard Mitigation Program Specialists.
Senior Program Manager with full responsibility for monitoring/management of mitigation grants activities to include the Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP) and HMGP (Post Fire).
Evaluates program guidance and policy changes and provides expert advice to HMA staff, Branch Chief, and the Mitigation Division Director.
Responsible for providing oversight and surveillance of program financial and grants management activities to management. Provides in-depth knowledge of mitigation grants and grant processes.
Works closely with FEMA Headquarters to help develop and interpret policies, regulations, procedures, and practices associates with program implementation and grants management of FEMA mitigation grant programs.

To qualify for this position at the GS-13 level (starting salary $98,496), you must possess one full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 level in the Federal government, which has equipped you with the skills needed to successfully perform the duties of the position. Experience may be obtained in the Federal or Private Sector and must demonstrate all of the following:
Extensive experience with Hazard Mitigation Assistance grant program eligibility, cost effectiveness, technical feasibility and environmental compliance at the federal, state, local or tribal level; AND
Providing leadership, guidance, coordination, and implementation of program functions, statutes, regulations and policies that govern program implementation; AND
Experience analyzing and/or identifying issues and providing recommendations to leadership.
