This position serves as Chief of the International Expositions Unit in the Department of State (DOS), Office of the Under Secretary for Public Diplomacy and Public Affairs, Office of Policy, Planning and Resources (R/PPR), managing U.S. participation in World's Fairs.
Summary
This position serves as Chief of the International Expositions Unit in the Department of State (DOS), Office of the Under Secretary for Public Diplomacy and Public Affairs, Office of Policy, Planning and Resources (R/PPR), managing U.S. participation in World's Fairs.
Oversees planning and execution for construction and operation of U.S. pavilions at International Expositions, also known as World's Fairs.
Briefs and advises senior Department officials up to and including the Under Secretary on participation strategies for upcoming Expos.
Serves as the Department's principal liaison on Expo-related matters with the Bureau of International Expositions, the interagency, the White House, the Department of Commerce, foreign governments, Congress, private organizations and corporations.
Provides professional leadership, guidance, and oversight to the Unit's staff.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
Requires a financial disclosure statement, OGE-278.

Qualifications
Applicants must meet all the qualification requirements described below by the closing date of this announcement.
Applicants must have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 level in the Federal service which provided the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the position.
Qualifying specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience planning, designing and coordinating execution of major foreign public engagement programs and initiatives.
Experience communicating strategies and execution of plans to senior Department officials, other decision makers, and key stakeholders.
Experience engaging with multilateral international organizations and foreign government officials.
Experience developing plans, policies, and procedures governing a program.
In addition, applicant's experience must also demonstrate that the candidate possesses the following qualities:
Ability to assign, review, and supervise the work of others;
Objectivity and fairness in judging people on their ability, and situations on the facts and circumstances;
Ability to adjust to change, work pressures, or difficult situations without undue stress;
Willingness to consider new ideas or divergent points of view; and
Capacity to "see the job through."
There is no substitute of education for specialized experience for the GS-15 position.
