This position is open to current military members of the Active-Duty Army, Army Reserves and Army National Guard (to include the Wisconsin Army National Guard) that are eligible to enlist in the Wisconsin Army National Guard.
As a SURFACE MAINTENANCE MECHANIC INSPECTOR - Title 32, WG-5801-12, you will serve as an inspector of surface maintenance vehicles and equipment to ensure that physical and operating characteristics are within acceptable standards and specifications. Duties involve complex inspection work, requiring a wide variety of inspection processes and techniques, at remote worksites or field installations where a supervisor is not readily available. In these situations, work is performed very independently and decisions require a wide range of subjective judgments.
Compatible military grade and assignment required prior to the effective date of placement. This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard. - This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position.

Qualifications
GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience or training which demonstrates knowledge of equipment to be able to do routine jobs, simple preventative maintenance tasks, and is able to use common tools and equipment in the line of work.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: To qualify at the WG-12 level, you must have at least 18 months of experience or training diagnosing, repairing, overhauling, and modifying more complex vehicles, equipment, and more complicated systems. Experience which has provided a thorough knowledge of diagnostic equipment. Experience applying independent judgment in determining methods and techniques required to solve unusually complex maintenance and repair problems. Experienced in testing, inspecting, and evaluating the work performed on vehicles, equipment and systems.
