This position is in the Editing and Publishing Division, Office of the Historian, Foreign Service Institute (FSI/OH). As a Historian in the fields of diplomatic history, documentary editing, and the history of U.S. bilateral and regional relations, global issues such as terrorism, narcotics, health, and the environment, as well as topics such as national security policy, foreign economic policy, and foreign policy organization and management.
Summary
This position is in the Editing and Publishing Division, Office of the Historian, Foreign Service Institute (FSI/OH). As a Historian in the fields of diplomatic history, documentary editing, and the history of U.S. bilateral and regional relations, global issues such as terrorism, narcotics, health, and the environment, as well as topics such as national security policy, foreign economic policy, and foreign policy organization and management.

Plans and carries out complex historical research as well as technical historical editing functions for the Dept. of State's statutorily mandated documentary series Foreign Relations of the United States.
Analyzes, evaluates, reviews and revises pre-publication Foreign Relations manuscripts and performs oversight of contractors performing proofreading.
Performs extensive research in historical documents, checking unpublished documents, conducting research in online documentary collections, and searching multiple databases to confirm accuracy in the editorial content.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance.

Qualifications

BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
Have a bachelor's or graduate degree from an accredited college or university in history;
OR
Have a bachelor's or graduate degree from an accredited college or university in a field related to history that included at least 18 semester hours in history;
OR
Have a combination of education and experience where your coursework was equivalent to a major in history, or a major in a related field, that included at least 18 semester hours in history, PLUS appropriate relevant experience OR additional education.
