Duties

Help

The incumbent contributes to the mission of this office by sharing with the Program Manager/Superintendent of the Agency (Southern Paiute

Agency and Truxton Canon Agency) and the Deputy Regional Director, Trust Services, the administration of the Agency's organization programs and work to formulate and promulgate Agency application of national policies and programs. As a Deputy Superintendent-Trust Services, your duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Provides leadership for all agency trust programs to foster the effective conservation and utilization of all Indian resources.
  • Manage the activities of the trust programs to ensure that all programs' elements responsible for disbursing federal funds.
  • Manage federal trust property adhere to applicable statutes, codes, treasury regulations, departmental and Bureau policies.
  • Review natural resource plans, inter-agency memorandum of understanding, legislation, regulations and policies of natural resources functions to act on behalf of the Bureau and Indian People.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: To be considered for this position, you must meet all qualification and eligibility requirements for the GS-0301 series set forth in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards by the closing date of the announcement. Specialized Experience:

For the GS-13 level: Applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level in the Federal service, or comparable experience not gained through federal service. Examples of specialized experience include responsibility for carrying out management functions in accordance with laws and regulations for a variety of land resource program activities that includes agriculture, realty and forestry. Additional examples of specialized experience includes program oversight responsibilities or serving as a technical expert in range management; natural resources; land use development; land assessment of all the resources; or land resource conservation strategy/planning for trust land. There is no education substitution for the GS-13 grade level.

This is a key management position. Simply meeting time-in-grade in occupations where directing and managing Indian trust responsibilities and program was not performed, will not be qualifying.

Merit Promotion candidates must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the announcement closing date.
Applicants must have one year of specialized experience at the next lower grade to be considered for the next higher grade (e.g. one year at the GS-12 grade level for consideration at the GS-13 grade level.)

This is a supervisory position. Under provision of the Civil Service Reform Act, first-time supervisors are required to serve a one year supervisory probationary period before their appointment becomes final. Those who do not satisfactorily complete this probationary period will be returned to positions of no lower grade and pay than those they occupied before assuming their supervisory assignment.

TELEWORK: Indian Affairs has determined that the duties of the position are suitable for telework and the selectee may be allowed to telework with supervisor approval.

Incumbent is required to operate a government-owned or leased motor vehicle, in the performance of duties; therefore, a valid driver's license is required. Incumbent must have a safe driving record within the three-year period immediately preceding submittal of GSA Form 3607 and be able to meet the safe driving requirements of the Bureau of Indian Affairs.

Position has a Confidential Financial Disclosure (Form OGE-450) requirement. If selected, you will be required to submit Form OGE-450 within 30 days of your initial appointment date, and annually thereafter.
