This Post-Secondary Student (PSS) announcement is open to students currently enrolled or accepted for enrollment pursuing a baccalaureate or graduate degree on at least a half-time basis.
This position is 100% remote however the incumbent will be required to reside in the Southeast region within one of the the following states: Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee. The incumbents residence will be their work location. Residence within a state within the Southeast region is required for the the duration of appointment, unless approval to transfer to another location is granted. This approval is granted at the discretion of your supervisor. The agency will not pay relocation expenses. If relocation is necessary, it will be at the selectee's expense.

Tracks and monitors incoming digital correspondence and telephone inquiries. Notes, records, tracks, monitors items, and triages email to the intended recipient(s).
Proofreads documents, spreadsheets, and PowerPoint presentations. Under the guidance of a higher-graded coworker or supervisor, performs basic evaluation, computations, calculations, and statistical analyses on management data concerning achieving organization goals, objectives, and progress toward fulfilling strategic plans.
Assists in preparing materials used to orient individuals and new hires and transfers. Works with management to ensure position descriptions are re-certified per DOL policy.
Assists project and program teams. Attends and participates in workgroups. Attends meetings, performs assignments of limited scope and difficulty. Takes notes, notes milestones and deadlines, and keeps track of goals and objectives, associated products, services, and deliverables. Performs basic research and analysis.
Works with a trainer/mentor to learn and support all budget process phases.
Monitors supply levels, takes basic supply inventory, takes supply requests from individuals in the supported organization, places orders, distributes supplies to requestors, and maintains records.
Candidate required to obtain the necessary background/investigation level.
The entire duration of the Post-Secondary Student appointment constitutes a trial period.
Upon completion of requirements for graduation and successful completion of the PSS program requirements, you may be eligible for non-competitive conversion, at the agency's discretion, to a career or career-conditional appointment.
Qualifications
This position will be filled under the Office of Personnel Management's Hire Authority for Post-Secondary Students, and is open to all United States citizens and U.S. nationals. Veteran's preference and traditional rating and ranking of applications do not apply. All qualified applicants will be referred to the hiring manager for consideration for this position.
This Post Secondary Student appointment is a TERM appointment not to exceed 4 yrs in the competitive service. Students may be non-competitively converted to a career or career-conditional appointment upon successful completion of an academic program; complete 640 hrs. of continuous employment; meet OPM qualifications for the position; and meet time-in-grade requirements.
To be eligible for appointment under the Post Secondary Student authority, applicants must meet the following requirements:
Students enrolled or accepted for enrollment in an institution of higher education (as defined in 20 U.S.C. Sec 1001(a)) and pursuing a baccalaureate or graduate degree on at least part-time basis as determined by the academic institution. OR students who have not yet started the course of study leading to the baccalaureate or graduate degree (or certificate as appropriate), may apply and be considered for a temporary appointment position in the weeks/months prior to the job being filled. These individuals must, however, complete their enrollment requirements prior to appointment.
AND
Have successfully completed two academic years of post-high school study or associate's degree.
Promotion Potential - Upon conversion this position may have promotion potential up to the GS-11 grade level. There is no obligation to provide future promotions if you are selected. Promotions are dependent on your ability to perform the duties at a higher level, meet all the performance requirements, and supervisor's recommendation to the next grade.
