Summary

This position is in the U.S. Department of the Interior (DOI) Office of the Secretary, Office of the Assistant Secretary - Indian Affairs (AS-IA), under the direction of the White House Council on Native Americans Affairs (WHCNAA) Executive Director. The purpose of this position is to serve as the Interagency Coordinator for Climate Resiliency, Adaption, and Relocation matters and is responsible for progressing policy work and project management with emphasis on interagency coordination.

Duties

Help

Leads coordination efforts for inter-agency work regarding the responsibilities below.

Coordinates, in conjunction with the supervisor, the development of climate-related initiatives and projects among the AS-IA divisional offices and other IA bureaus to ensure consistency in approach and sustainability across requisite work.

Develops and implements the long-term vision of DOI leadership in environmental, climate resilience, relocation and adaption by coordinating and leading initiatives and projects among the AS-IA divisional offices and other bureaus.

Prepares documents and/or develops procedures for preparing and reviewing environmental documents concerning environmental issues pertaining to carbon-based and renewable energy.

Advises the Executive Director, and other IA principals on the status and effectiveness of program operations and identifies weaknesses and strengths and recommends reprograming of major policies, and programmatic areas.

Organizes and leads meetings with AS-IA offices and partners to ensure that environmental matters are addressed in a timely fashion.

Oversees the reviews and interpretations of policies, procedures, guidelines, and strategies that direct the effective coordination and management or related work.

Advises programs and the workforce to ensure accuracy, coordinates development if implementation plans and strategies, monitors accomplishments, and prepares reports and plans to inform AS-IA, and DOI senior leadership, Federal agencies, and Congress.

Qualifications

GS-13: To qualify at the GS-13 grade level, you must possess at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level that includes performing ALL of the following: 1) Experience serving as an authority, principal coordinator, and primary contact for ecosystem restoration matters; 2) Coordinating with the functional leads on project-related tasks and deliverables; 2) Compiling with performance goals that assess that progress toward attainment of such goals; 3) Knowledge and experience of an array of Federal and Indian Fiduciary trust issues, including but not limited to missions, programs, and organizational relationships, including those that support Indian Affairs.
