Summary

Incumbent of this position will provide technical advice, consultation, and support to customers and peers. Review high-level program plans, requirements and specifications. Participate in the preparation and evaluation of engineering studies. Participate in final designs to support recommendations for modifications. Prepare and coordinate risk management reports to identify and mitigate project risks. Perform system integration, support, testing and evaluation of operational equipment.

Duties of this position include but are not limited to

  • Must be technically proficient, knowledgeable of FAA policies, proficient in project management and able to apply this knowledge while simultaneously managing multiple projects.
  • Responsible to resolve related technical issues that rise from test activities which cannot be resolved by other support organizations. In doing so, must be able to exercise independent judgment to apply policy and technical knowledge to resolve problems.
  • Analyzes and evaluates the security of new, and existing IT systems and the procedures to protect information system assets from intentional or inadvertent modification, disclosure, or destruction (CIS benchmarks, NIST framework, etc.).
  • Analyzes and evaluates the design and operating effectiveness of Information technology and security controls that are in place and proposed.
  • Knowledge and understanding of operating systems, networks and services
  • Evaluates security solutions to ensure they meet security requirements for processing classified information.
  • Manages changes to system and assesses the security impact of those changes.
  • Communicates and collaborate with other developers, systems and organizations.
  • Configures user and group access, file and directory permissions, system auditing and log file rotation.
  • Monitors resource utilization, process priority and system stability
  • Reviews system error logs and analyzes network data flows
  • Supports independent risk assessment and compliance security scans of the Linux systems.
  • Monitor, investigate, and remediate endpoint performance issues
  • Detect, react, and recover quickly from attacks and the resulting business disruptions
  • Minimize critical security vulnerabilities by automating patch delivery
  • Evaluate endpoints for security configuration exposures and software vulnerabilities using industry security standards, vulnerability definitions, and custom compliance checks

To qualify for this position you must demonstrate in your application that you possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to FV-H / FG/GS-10-12. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position.

Specialized experience is: Experience with IT solutions such as Enterprise Compute, Management and Monitoring.
