Duties

Help

As a Supervisory IT Specialist (InfoSecurity/Policy) GS-2210-15, your typical work assignments may include the following:

  • Providing administrative and technical supervision necessary for accomplishing the work of the unit.
  • Developing long range plans for IT security systems that anticipate, identify, evaluate, mitigate and minimize risks associated with IT systems vulnerabilities.
  • Formulating long range policies and developing and implementing strategies and management guidelines for complex and changing information technology systems.
  • Identifying significant actual and potential cyber security problems, trends, and weaknesses.
  • Resolving integration issues related to the implementation of new systems within the existing infrastructure.
  • Participating on agency, Federal, and non-governmental committees relative to equipment and system software policy and technology planning.
  • Providing first line communications, which includes problem determination, problem resolution, and making recommendations to resolve IT issues and requirements.
  • Providing advice and guidance on cyber initiatives.

  • May require completion of a one-year supervisory probationary period.
  • May require completion of a one year initial probationary period.
  • This position is not a remote location position, but is eligible for telework.

Qualifications

To qualify for the position of Supervisory IT Specialist (InfoSec/Policy)-CISO at GS-2210-15, you must have one year of specialized experience at the GS-14 level performing such duties as: establishing long range plans for IT security systems; implementing or disseminating IT
security tools, procedures and practices to protect information assets; reviewing proposed new systems, networks, and software designs for potential security risks; resolving integration issues; continually evaluating current system security posture and monitoring activities; presenting briefings on IT policy initiatives and project status; and recommending modifications and solutions for reducing IT security risks.
