Incumbent serves as Forest Resources Division Supervisor responsible for overseeing staff responsible for forest resources conservation. The division works with a wide range of partner agencies and covers all aspects of conservation, including listing, recovery, consultation, and conservation benefit agreements. Work involves various aspects of the Endangered Species Act, National Environmental Policy Act, Fish and Wildlife Coordination Act, and other federal laws, policies, and regulations.

In order to qualify for this position you must possess both the Basic Requirement and Minimum Qualification.
Basic Requirement:
Bachelor's or higher degree in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position.. OR
A combination of education and experience that includes courses equivalent to a major in the biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position, PLUS appropriate experience or additional education. The quality of the combination of education and experience must be sufficient to demonstrate possession of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform work in the occupation, and is comparable to that normally acquired through the successful completion of a full 4-year course of study with a major in the appropriate field.
Minimum Qualification [GS-13]
One year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility equivalent to grade GS-12 in the Federal service. Experience includes (1) managing/leading a staff of biological/natural resource professionals; (2) evaluating species and/or habitat plans and developing collaborative solutions for resource management problems; (3) coordinating with and advising Federal, State and local agencies, Tribes, non-governmental organizations, industry representatives, private landowners, and others to conserve fish, wildlife or plants; (4) mentoring lower-level employees on endangered species listing, recovery, or consultation; or habitat conservation, including providing oversight and guidance on complex and controversial conservation policy and technical issues.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
