As the Human Resources Specialist in this position, you will:
In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience.
GS-12: Have one full year of specialized experience in providing assistance in employee work-life programs and HR policies. This must include activities such as: 1) assisting in leave programs, employee assistance program (EAP) and work-life programs; (2) interpreting legislation, regulatory, and/or policy guidance affecting HR program areas; (3) assisting with draft corrective action plans and responses to recommendations on HR programs and audits; (4) communicating HR benefits and work-life policies and procedures to agency staff; This experience must be comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-11 level in the Federal service (obtained either in private or public sectors).
GS-13: Have one full year of specialized experience in providing expert consultation regarding employee work-life programs and HR policies. This must include activities such as: 1) overseeing leave programs, employee assistance program (EAP) and work-life programs; (2) evaluating and interpreting new or proposed complex legislation, regulatory, and/or policy guidance affecting HR program areas; (3) planning and overseeing special projects involving key human resources issues, including employee engagement.;(4) drafting new policies and procedures regarding work-life programs and communicates updated requirements to management and staff; (5) conducting program analysis, data analysis, and report writing to meet internal reporting requirements; This experience must be comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-12 level in the Federal service (obtained either in private or public sectors).

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
