Help

Allied Trades Helper WG-5801-05
The primary purpose of this position is to assist higher graded workers in the skilled trades occupations. Assists shop personnel in the skilled trades occupations by performing the least skilled duties of those trades. Performs common and typical tasks such as mixing paint; preparing surfaces; assisting in minor body and fender work; replacing body components; cleaning equipment; and operating hot water pressure washer and sandblasting equipment. Removes parts on all types of equipment and armament when the work does not require technical knowledge or skill. Supplies, lifts, and holds materials or tools for higher graded workers. Uses hand and powered tools of the trade worked. Performs other duties as assigned.

Surface Maintenance Repairer WG-5801-08
The purpose of this position is to perform limited diagnosis, routine repairs, and maintenance on combat, tactical, commercial, and special purpose vehicles and equipment. Performs limited diagnosis, routine repairs and maintenance on heavy-duty mobile equipment, combat, tactical and automotive vehicles. Performs limited diagnoses to determine the cause of mechanical failures by means of visual and auditory checks and/or uses basic test equipment such as compression testers, voltmeters, ohmmeters and pressure gauges. Removes, replaces, adjusts, cleans and installs parts and components such as wheel seals, switches, sensors, fuel pumps, water pumps, power steering pumps, brakes, filters, radiators, bearings, springs, shock absorbers, wheel cylinders, starter motors, mufflers, battery cables, and other items of similar complexity. Independently performs routine repairs and maintenance functions in remote locations that can be accomplished by removing, cleaning, reinstalling, or replacing defective parts of components and systems using standard parts. Conducts limited readiness and repair inspections on vehicles and associated equipment supported by the activity. May perform routine maintenance and limited repairs on basic communication equipment such as radios, field telephones, amplifiers, switchboards, recorders, intercoms by removing and replacing components and elements. In conjunction with or in the absence of the Tools and Parts Attendant, may maintain supply documentation, and the receipt, store, issue, and inventory of tools and parts used in the trades operation. Performs other duties as assigned.

Surface Maintenance Mechanic WG-5801-10
The purpose of this position is to perform maintenance, repair, troubleshooting, inspection, and/or overhaul of a variety of combat, tactical, commercial, and special purpose vehicles and equipment. Troubleshoots, performs maintenance and major repairs on heavy-duty mobile equipment, combat, tactical and automotive vehicles. Troubleshoots equipment and diagnoses the cause of mechanical failures by means of visual and auditory checks and/or uses test equipment such as engine analyzers, compression testers, voltmeters, ohmmeters, pressure gauges, and computer diagnostic tools. Removes and disassembles engines and major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, and fuel, hydraulic, and oil pressure systems. Independently performs repairs and maintenance functions in remote locations that can be accomplished by removing, cleaning, reinstalling, or replacing defective parts of components and systems such as injectors, leaking wheel cylinders, corroded mufflers, fuel tanks, brake cylinders and worn brake shoes, voltage regulators, generators, injector pumps, and fuel pumps. Conducts readiness and repair inspections on vehicles and associated equipment supported by the activity. May maintain and repair electronics communication equipment by removing and replacing components and elements. Assists in the maintenance of production reports and records and makes recommendations to the supervisor. Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Membership in the Colorado Army National Guard.
  • Must hold the grade of E-2 thru E-7.
  • Compatible Military Assignment: 12, 13, 14, 19, 25, 88, 91, 92, or 94 series MOS or able to obtain it within one year of hire.
  • May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
  • Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
  • Submit all required documentation.
  • For positions requiring the operation for motor vehicle, candidates must have a valid state driver's license for the state in which they live or are principally employed.

Qualifications

Military Grades: E-2 thru E-7

Compatible Military Assignments: 12, 13, 14, 19, 25, 88, 91, 92, and 94 series MOS or able to obtain it within one year of hire

1. Specialized experience will be used to determine qualifications for the announced position.

You will be immediately disqualified if you fail to include specialized experience in your resume.

Allied Trades Helper WG-5801-05 must have at least 6 months of Specialized Experience in each of the following:
1. Experience using common hand tools in making repetitive repairs under close supervision.
2. Experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the simpler and routine duties of the trade.

Surface Maintenance Repairer WG-5801-08 must have at least 12 months of Specialized Experience in each of the following:
1. Experience using common hand and power tools and a small variety of test and measurement devices to make mechanical repairs.
2. Experienced removing, adjusting, replacing, cleaning, and installing a variety of parts, components, and accessories.
3. Experience which demonstrates a basic understanding of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic theory applying to vehicles; and skill to replace, fit, install, and make adjustments.
4. Experience demonstrating an understanding of the makeup and operation of the various individual systems maintained and their interrelationships.
5. Experience reading and interpreting parts lists, manufactures' repair manuals, diagrams, and electrical schematics.

Surface Maintenance Mechanic WG-5801-10 must have at least 18 months of Specialized Experience in each of the following:
1. Experience diagnosing, repairing, overhauling, and modifying more complex vehicles, equipment, and more complicated systems.
2. Experience which has provided a thorough knowledge of diagnostic equipment.
3. Experience applying independent judgment in determining methods and techniques required to solve unusually complex maintenance and repair problems.
4. Experience in testing, inspecting, and evaluating the work performed on vehicles, equipment and systems.

Education

Education cannot be substituted for Specialized Experience for this position.

Failure of new FTS personnel to complete NGB prescribed courses at PEC within the first year of employment may be cause for reassignment to other full-time positions or termination of their employment.
