This is an open continuous vacancy announcement and applications will be referred when vacancies occur. This announcement is intended as a mechanism of providing consideration for the greatest number of potential candidates. This position is located within BIA/Fort Peck Agency, Real Estate/Rights Protection Services.

The purpose of this position is to provide sustained-yield management, conservation, development, and utilization of the trust resources on permitted and leased lands for the conservation and protection of the trust resource. Your duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Plans and constructs compliance activities on surface and subsurface leases, oil and gas wells under the jurisdiction of the Agency.
  • Provide assistance to the Realty Officer in the development of branch work plans and schedules.
  • Investigate right-of-way violations, trespass and possible boundary disputes, prepares rights-of-way legal descriptions of maps.
  • Design and maintain systems to track land use and trespass activities.
  • Conducts inspections on all trust land boundary disputes, conducts boundary surveys to determine correct boundary lines.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualification GS-5:

General Experience: None

Specialized Experience: One (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least GS-4. Specialized experience demonstrates the applicant's knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of the position: Conducting and documenting field inspections of tracts land use to determine compliance and non-compliance with lease stipulations; Following up on field inspections to ensure corrective measure are made; and performing clerical and administrative support functions to produce and maintain a variety of documents.

Education: 4 years above high school

Minimum Qualification GS-6:

Specialized Experience: One (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-5 level. Specialized experience demonstrates the applicant's knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of the position: Planning and constructing compliance activities on all leases; conducting and documenting field inspections of tracts land use to determine compliance and non-compliance with lease stipulation; and independently performing clerical and administrative support functions to produce and maintain a variety of documents.
