Summary

The Training Specialist serves as a liaison, co-creating & facilitating inter-divisional & inter-park programming and professional development with park partners and educators.
Seasonal - This is a career seasonal position with periods in pay and non-pay status. The anticipated season runs from February through December, with a minimum of 20 and a maximum of 25 pay periods in pay status.
Develops curriculum-based education programs and resources including lesson plans, videos and other materials
Presents in-person and virtual education programs to students at educational institutions to include elementary and high schools, colleges, and universities, as well as the visiting public
Directs and coordinates the efforts of seasonal employees, interns, and volunteers in the development and implementation of education programs
Coordinates the development of education resources including lesson plans, videos, and other curriculum-based materials
Communicates natural resource information and research to staff, partners, and the public
Co-coordinates the park's citizen science program with the natural resources program and ensures adequate quality control of field work and data collected
Co-coordinates inter-divisional and inter-park outreach and special programs for the public
Plans, organizes, and presents training workshops for teachers, school officials, environmental educators, and curriculum coordinators
Co-develops teacher professional development with partners, educators, and an interdivisional and inter-park team of staff
Prepares and reviews publications and literature related to all educational activities including information brochures, traveling exhibits, curriculum material, newsletters, and evaluative materials
Manages the education and outreach program and supports science communication, youth programs, and interpretive efforts in the parks
Appointment subject to background investigation and favorable adjudication.
May be subject to a one-year probationary period.

Qualifications
In order to be qualified for this position, you must possess one of the following:
A. One year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-7 in the Federal service, updating/developing and presenting educational content related to the environmental sciences, natural resource conservation or a similar subject area to school/community groups; and maintaining partnerships with subject matter experts, educational institutions, or other stakeholders. - OR -
B. Two years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a Master's degree in education or a field whose subject area relates to this position, such as biology, ecology, natural resource management, or another closely related field. - OR -
C. A combination of specialized experience as described in A and graduate level education as described in B that, when combined, equals 100% of the total requirement. (Please note: only graduate education in excess of the first two years may be used in this calculation.)
Credit will be given for all appropriate qualifying experience. To receive credit for experience, your resume MUST clearly indicate the nature of the duties and responsibilities for each position, starting and ending dates of employment (month/year), and the resume must reflect full and/or part-time or total number of hours worked (i.e., work 40+ hours a week, rather than indicating full-time).
