Summary

The Enterprise Operations Center (EOC) (AIT-AIF-010), under the Infrastructure & Operations organization (AIT-AIF-010), is responsible for providing monitoring and event response for the Information Technology (AIT) organization at the FAA. Monitoring services are provided 24/7, via automation and human response. The team manages an array of tools to support the FAA’s administrative network and applications.

Duties

Help

The Enterprise Operations Center (EOC) provides a 24X7X365 monitoring and alerts of infrastructure operations and services. The EOC monitors the current state of the production environment to identify unscheduled interruptions to systems and services when they occur. The EOC also conducts trending and deep dive analyses of infrastructure components in order to identify and anticipate infrastructure issues before they happen. When they occur, the EOC oversees root cause analysis of problems and service interruptions across the organization, chairs and facilitates service and system restoration efforts and communications to AIT working closely with Network Operations, Data Center Services, Solution Delivery, Information Security & Privacy, and other stakeholders. The EOC also manages tools that provide 24X7X365 monitoring, alerts and notifications of systems and services throughout the enterprise.

If you are selected for this position, your duties will include but are not limited to:

  • Provide assigned shift coverage for monitoring enterprise systems and services 24X7X365.
  • Complete assigned tasks and small projects with little or no supervision.
  • Apply experience and general technical and operational knowledge in daily work and shows consistent quality and technical proficiency in performing these activities.
  • Manage and maintain Solarwinds/Orion monitoring and alerts.
  • Facilitate or chair technical meetings, take detailed notes and write after action/post mortem reports. Communication: Communicates, coordinates and facilitates adhoc conference calls among service and system SME to resolve service interruption affecting AIT services.
  • Reviews and responds to events reported by customers or monitoring tools.
  • Ability to follow and develop SOPs as needed.
  • Resolves all but unique technical problems without the intervention of management or a more experienced technical specialist.
  • Identifies and informs management of problems that require their attention. Often develops and recommends techniques to address problem situations.
  • Meet with customers to identify requirements and appropriate levels of service.
  • Identifying and demonstrate appropriate toolsets to be used for monitoring services

To qualify for this position you must demonstrate in your application that you possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to FV-H / FG/GS-10-12. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position.

Specialized experience includes: Experience maintaining operations in a Network Operations Center (NOC), Security Operations Center (SOC), Enterprise Operation Center (EOC) or similar environment, using Solarwinds/Orion tools and technology and experience conveying technical information.

Applicants should include examples of specialized experience in their work history.
