Duties

The incumbent will:

Develop long-range plans for IT security systems that anticipate, identify, evaluate, mitigate, and minimize risks associated with IT systems vulnerabilities and complex applications to ensure the physical security of the FAA William J. Hughes Technical Center and associated facilities.

Apply knowledge of security related IT and telecommunications systems to aid in the physical security of a campus or municipality.

Conduct data verification within systems to ensure that the Technical Center is complying with FAA regulatory requirements to include hardware and software updates and preventative maintenance.

Apply knowledge of industry trends to research and find available sources of supply and/or services. Incumbent will provide input to the acquisition strategy and source selection plan for IT security related systems.

Performs multiple, varying, and complex assignments under the limited direction of a manager, project/program manager, team leader, or more experienced technical specialist.

Defines, plans, and organizes assigned resources to accomplish organizational objectives. Allocates resources to accomplish small work-activities within established schedules.

May act as a key technical point of contact for assigned activities. Contributes to the preparation of management/technical reports or contractual documents and may communicate the overall results of a project or work activity to FAA management, the aviation and aerospace industries, and other external parties.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position you must demonstrate in your application that you possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to FV-H, FG/GS 10-12. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position.

Specialized experience may include but not limited to: Experience developing long-range plans for IT security systems that anticipate, identify, evaluate, mitigate, and minimize risks associated with IT systems that aid in the physical security of a campus, municipality or other large complex entity.
