In this position, you will serve as an Auditor. Typical work assignments include but are not limited to:

  • Lead audits of U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) programs, contracts, operations, and program participants to assess compliance with laws, regulations, and standard operating procedures.
  • Conduct various types of assessments that include performance, financial, information systems, and programs.
  • Provide guidance and assignments to junior staff members.
  • Prepare written audit and inspection plans that are designed to address the objective.
  • Review all audit related documents to ensure adherence to all policies and regulations.
  • Prepare draft and final audit and inspection reports for approval.
  • Coordinate with the CPSC's Office of Procurement Services to develop an acquisition plan and contract solicitation.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position you must meet the following Basic Requirement and Specialized Experience at the GS-12 and/or GS-13 level:

Basic Requirement:


A. Have a Bachelor's or higher degree in auditing; or a degree in a related field such as business administration, finance, public administration or accounting. (Note: Transcripts must be provided)

-OR-

B. Combination of education and experience: at least 4 years of experience in Performance Auditing, or an equivalent combination of performance auditing experience, college-level education, and training that provided professional auditing knowledge. The applicant's background must also include one of the following:

  1. A certificate as a Certified Internal Auditor or a Certified Public Accountant, obtained through written examination; or
  2. Completion of the requirements for a degree that included substantial course work in auditing or accounting, e.g., 15 semester hours.

GS-12 Specialized Experience:

You qualify for the GS-12 grade level if you possess at least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-11 level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors) performing the following duties:
  1. Conducting performance audit or evaluation assignments under supervision in accordance with established federal guidelines and regulations;
  2. Analyzing and summarizing data;
  3. Assisting in the preparation of portions of the draft and final reports.

GS-13 Specialized Experience:

You qualify for the GS-13 grade level if you possess at least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-12 level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors) performing the following duties:
  1. Conducting performance audits or evaluations under minimal supervision in accordance with established federal guidelines and regulations;
  2. Gathering, identifying, and analyzing program data;
  3. Drafting and presenting final reports to leadership.
