Duties

Help

Monitors and reports on organizational targets and goals on behalf of the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) and ensures that priorities, commitments and deadlines of the Inspector General, and Chief of Staff (COS) are fully met by tracking and coordinating activities and deliverables with the designated Office of Inspector General (OIG) staff.

Serves as a time manager for the DIG/COS, exercises control over scheduling work-related appointments, meetings, telephone calls, conferences, and travel as well as social and civic agenda and obligations.

Researches and prepares information needed for OIG and executive staff meetings, reports, and documents, and attends meetings to records decisions made on actions to be taken. Follows-up within the Department of Labor and with other Federal agencies regarding administrative and management commitments.

Coordinates and completes administrative actions in order to eliminate conflict and duplication of office procedures such as filing, emailing, records management, calendar management, appointment scheduling, and financial record keeping.

Ensures all responses to inquiries addressed to the OIG from White House or Congressional staff, other Federal agencies, are in the correct format, grammatically correct, and error free.

Applicants must meet time-in-grade, time-after-competitive-appointment and qualifications requirements within 30 calendar days after the closing date of the vacancy to be eligible for consideration for selection.

Notification Concerning COVID-19 Vaccinations.  As required by Executive Order 14043, Federal executive branch employees are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 regardless of the employee's duty location or work arrangement (e.g., telework, remote work, etc.), subject to such exceptions as required by law.  If selected, you will be required to be vaccinated against COVID-19 and to submit documentation of proof of vaccination or to be in the process of requesting an exception to the vaccination requirement before appointment or onboarding with the agency.  The agency will provide additional information regarding which forms of documentation can be accepted and how you can request to be considered for a legally required exception from this requirement.

Qualifications

Applicants must have 52 weeks of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, GS-9, in the Federal Service.

Specialized experience includes, but is not limited to:   Directly providing administrative support to a position that is a Division level Manager or above;  Supporting the administrative, legal or program functions of a Federal government law enforcement agency; Preparing correspondence or reports that are sensitive in nature including, Congressional responses; Preparing travel requests and vouchers; Purchasing office supplies and equipment and serving as a certified Contracting Officer Representative on office service contracts.

This position will not be filled until the Department's Placement Assistance Programs have been fully utilized. 

Relocation Incentives WILL NOT be offered. 

This position is outside the bargaining unit.

Permanent Change of Station Funds (PCS) WILL NOT be offered.

Education

Applicants may qualify at the GS-11 grade level with the below education.   

A Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree OR  3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree  OR LL.M., if related.

Combining Education and Experience: Combinations of successfully completed post-high school education AND experience MAY be used to meet total qualification requirements
