The physical worksite for this position is located in Alexandria, Virginia.This position is eligible for fully remote telework and the duty station is the authorized telework location (typically your home address). This position is located in the Office of the Chief Financial Officer, Front Office.

  • You're an effective writer and can serve as the OCFO expert on writing, editing, and information management, including distribution and retention.
  • You have experience in and can serve as the OCFO expert on the design, display, and organization of visual materials (e.g., dashboards, graphs, slides, charts, photographs, illustrations, or diagrams) used in reports, web content, or other communication and information products.
  • You're proficient in developing processes, messaging, and broadcasting strategies that communicate the value of the USPTO and the OCFO internally and to the public.

Qualifications

You must meet the United States Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) qualification requirements (including specialized experience and/or educational requirements) for the advertised position. Specialized Experienceis experience that has equipped applicants with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. For this position, the next lower grade level is a GS-12. Specialized experience for this position includes:

  • Experience researching, writing and editing a variety of financial management and business products relative to an agency's finances, mission, programs, and functions.
  • Experience providing consultation, advice and recommendations on communication methodologies and/or processes.
  • Experience researching, preparing, and publishing written and visual materials to explain complex financial concepts as they intercept with agency-wide programs.
GS-14

For this position, the next lower grade level is a GS-13. Specialized experience for this position includes:
  • Experience researching, writing and editing a variety of financial management and business products relative to an agency's finances, mission, programs, and functions.
  • Experience implementing and evaluating tools, methods, processes and information products to educate and communicate OCFO products/services across various user audiences.
  • Experience researching, preparing and publishing written and visual materials to explain complex financial concepts as they intercept with agency-wide programs.
  • Experience providing consultation, advice and recommendations on communication methodologies and/or processes.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Education

Education cannot be substituted at the GS-13 and GS-14 grade levels.

Additional information

Time-in-grade/band requirements must be met by the closing date of the announcement unless eligible for special hiring authority, reinstatement eligible, non-current Federal employee applying as a VEOA eligible which do not require time-in-grade/band.

This is a Public Trust position and has a risk level designation of "MODERATE".

Probationary Period-If selected, you may be required to complete an initial one-year probationary period.
