Summary

As a Supervisory Program Specialist (Robotics Process Automation), you will responsible for documenting, improving and mapping tasks that are prime for automation by leveraging robotics process automation, or other automation tools, in order to gain efficiencies agency wide. 

Location of position: this is a virtual position. Duty location will be determined upon selection.

Duties

Help

  • Leading projects to apply robotics process automation methods to standardize and significantly improve GSA or OCFO business processes and policies.
  • Applying established process improvement methods to define, measure, analyze, improve, and control agency business processes. As an expert in robotics process automation, analyzing and vetting projects for suitability of process automation, establishing project charters and milestones for approved projects, documenting business processes to replicate automation, obtaining authority to operate, manage user acceptance testing and ultimately moving forward bot into production.
  • Providing technical leadership and project direction for ad hoc project teams. Setting goals and technical standards for project team members, anticipating and effectively responding to changes in workload and resources, and influencing project team members through an inclusive style and recognition of project team member abilities and knowledge. Lead projects to completion and presents and defends results to agency managers. Using technical leadership, outstanding creativity and exceptional judgment, Program Specialist develops, defines and modifies research and/or programmatic objectives, devising innovative ways to solve problems of major importance to the agency with emphasis on Robotics Process Automation.
  • Directing, coordinating, and overseeing work through subordinate employees. Advising staff regarding policies, procedures, and directives of higher-level management or headquarters. Ensuring reasonable equity among units of performance standards developed, modified, and/or interpreted and rating techniques among subordinate employees. Explaining performance expectations to subordinate employees directly supervised and providing regular feedback.
  • Hearing and resolving group grievances and employee complaints referred by subordinate employees. Initiating action to correct performance or conduct problems of employees directly supervised. Ensuring documentation prepared to support actions is proper and complete.
  • Conceiving and recommending projects or studies to advance the state of robotics within GSA. Planning and conducting pioneering work in robotics and automation across GSA. Coordinating technical elements of the organization's program(s) with related activities of other government agencies, promoting mutual cooperation in areas which can be combined for more effective results.

  • Serve a one year supervisory or managerial probationary period, if required.

The salary range starts at $111,521 per year. If you are a new federal employee, your starting salary will likely be set at the Step 1 of the grade for which you are selected.  

To qualify, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13level or higher in the Federal service. Specialized experience must include operating a Robotic Process Automation (RPA) program that executes at least four (4) of the following functions:

  1. Assessing new RPA project opportunities

  2. Process Optimization and Improvement

  3. Technical design and documentation of business processes

  4. Obtaining Authority to Operate RPA solutions

  5. Development of technical automation solutions

  6. User Acceptance Testing of automation solutions

  7. Ensuring continuity of Operations & Maintenance of automation solutions

You will be evaluated for this job based on how well you meet the qualifications above.

  1. Ability to lead projects and apply robotic process automation methods to standardize and significantly improve GSA or OCFO business processes and policies.

  2. Ability to lead, manage and oversee technical projects to completion and present and defend results to agency managers.

  3. Ability to lead, manage, direct and oversee subordinate staff and execute the full range of supervisory responsibilities included but not limited to: performance, promotions, demotions, hiring, interviewing and the full range of personnel actions.
  4. Ability to resolve problems or conflicts which impede progress, assuring that contractor and agency staff work effectively as a team to complete the projects within established timelines.

  5. Ability to plan and conduct pioneering work in robotics and automation.

Additional hurdle assessments, such as narrative responses or other assessments, may be administered to applicants who meet the requirements of the first hurdle, e.g., the minimum qualification requirements. If additional assessments are used, you will be provided with further instructions.
