Duties

Help

Provides administrative and semi-technical related support to the supervisor, or manager, Aviation Safety Inspectors and Administrative Officer by utilizing advanced automation system tools relevant in the Safety Assurance System environment which includes, but is not limited to obtaining background data, preparing reports, reviewing applications, interviewing applicants, processing certificates, and maintaining technical and administrative files. Works under the general supervision of a Front Line Manager (FLM).

Assists in interpreting and implementing newly modified agency directives relating to accident, incident, enforcement processing, airmen/operator certification file processing. Determines necessary action and notification to assure staff is aware of latest changes.

Supports the Designated Written Test Examiner program by providing orientation and training of new examiners, providing required annual and periodic training as necessary. Coordinates unit's schedule with regard to inspectors' schedules, flight checks, exams, itinerary, and coordinates supervisor's appointment schedule. Prepares reports.

At the FG-7: Operates as the Aviation Safety Assistant in a Flight Standards field office providing advanced automation system tools relevant in the Safety Assurance System environment.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position at the FG-6 level:

You must demonstrate in your application that you possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the FG-5 or FV-D (FG-5/6) level. Specialize experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position and is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled.

Examples of specialized experience include:

Performing a variety of administrative and clerical work, such as, assist in researching, writing and typing non-technical and routine correspondence; reviewing and distributing incoming correspondence; maintaining files; general office support; preparing reports; examining documents for accuracy and completeness; entering and retrieving information from a variety of automated systems.

To qualify for this position at the FG-7 level:

Knowledge of agency directives and various agency policies governing technical programs; performing a variety of technical administrative work, such as, preparing complex reports; assisting in interpreting and implementing newly modified agency directives and determining action needed; managing records; providing tracking and validation support of funds for employee travel; assist in writing complex technical and non-technical correspondence and reports; researching technical data; reviewing and analyzing complex information; and interpreting directives.
