Major duties for this position include but are not limited to the following:

  • Independently monitors workplace safety and health social media communities; research emerging social media opportunities and makes recommendations on expanding or changing OSHA's social media programs.
  • With little supervision, creates and/or re-purposes content and maintains a schedule for social media posts for effective use across multiple platforms. Creates dialogue-worthy content which solicits feedback and opinion from target audience.
  • Participates in high level strategic planning and decision-making sessions with senior OOC staff and OSHA officials to advise and suggest various options for media related messaging via web/online, multimedia, audio, video, and infographics.
  • Tailors text, photos, graphics, videos and/or other multimedia projects to reach target audiences, ensuring that OSHA programs and services are clearly presented in a concise, up-to-date, user-friendly format.
  • Coordinates with the OSHA directorates to determine appropriate information/resources to promote and ensure relevancy and consistency of messages across multiple networks.
  • Participates in high level strategic planning and decision-making sessions with senior OOC staff and OSHA officials to advise and suggest various options for media related messaging via web/online, multimedia, audio, video, and infographics.
  • Strategize with and educate others across OSHA on incorporating relevant social media techniques into the OSHA culture. Coordinates with the OSHA directorates to determine appropriate information/resources to promote and ensure relevancy and consistency of messages across multiple networks.
  • Collaborates with colleagues in the Office of Communication to develop strategic communication plans to reach targeted audiences with information about OSHA rules, enforcement, compliance assistance, training, and more.
  • Assists the Director in the development and implementation of an Agency-wide communications program to ensure that OSHA' s media relations program is aligned and synchronized with the Department of Labor's Office of Public Affairs.

Qualifications

To qualify for the GS-09 position:

Applicants must have 52 weeks of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, GS-07, in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is defined as development and implementation of social media plans/strategies across available social media channels (i.e. Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.) to increase brand awareness and disseminate information to the public; creating dialogue-worthy content which solicits feedback and opinion from target audience; tracking social trends to keep information relevant.

master's or equivalent graduate degree

or

2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree

or

LL.B. or J.D., if related

To qualify for the GS-11 position:

Applicants must have 52 weeks of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, GS-09, in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is defined as development and implementation of social media plans/strategies across available social media channels (i.e. Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.) to increase brand awareness and disseminate information to the public; creating dialogue-worthy content which solicits feedback and opinion from target audience; tracking social trends to keep information relevant.

Education
