Summary

The Office of Government and Industry Affairs serves as the principal advisor to the Administrator and FAA Lines of Business/Staff Offices on all matters concerning the Congress, aviation industry groups, and other governmental organizations. AGI serves as the primary FAA point of contact for Members of Congress and congressional staff. As a recognized subject matter expert, incumbent acts as a senior liaison to Members of Congress and Staff.

Duties

Help

Provides Leadership for highly complex and challenging activities with minimal direction of a manager or executive.

Provides analytical support and representation for the organization’s Congressional relations and legislative programs.

Responsible for the identification, analysis, and evaluation of FAA issues contingent upon, derived from, or related to legislation, laws, rulings, regulations or orders proposed or issued by executive, legislative or judicial branches of the Federal, state, or local governments; or related to proceedings, positions, actions, etc. initiated by private individuals as well as civil, academic, commercial or industrial organizations.

Plans, designs, develops, initiates and conducts a variety of independent and interdependent discussions to identify and assess existing or potential issues and programs involving analysis of generalized policy issues related to aviation.

Identifies alternatives and coordinates proposals with operating officials and managers; provides option and recommendations to manager or executives.

Qualifications

Candidates must have one year (52 weeks) of SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (FV-I or FG/GS-13) that is typically related to the line of work of the position to be filled and which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been at least equivalent to the next lower level in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization.
