As a Program Manager, you will:
Plan, advise, organize and carry through to completion the development of the HASS COE organization and serve as the team leader responsible for assigning segments of the work to various participants, coordinating the efforts of the group, and consolidating findings into a completed product (e.g., evaluation report, proposed changes in legislation or regulations, or recommended course of action).
Oversee, coordinate, and assist the COE’s review functions, i.e., technical evaluations of industry-developed standards, assessment work (technical research and analysis), and validation functions (development of tests and test procedures).
Provide coordination and technical support to emerging issues and incidents, in collaboration with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), Federal Railroad Administration (FRA), Maritime Administration (MARAD), National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), and National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB).
Establish partnerships with OAs within the Department, across the whole of federal, state and regional governments, academia, industry, and other non-government organizations.
The ideal candidate for this position is a seasoned professional with experience and knowledge in both public sector program management and technical domains central to the safe deployment of automated technologies. The ideal candidate will serve as both a resource to the HASS COE Director and oversee and manage specific strategic initiatives, including in the areas of workforce development, standards coordination, and stakeholder and partner engagement.
