Duties and responsibilities include:

  • Executes social media strategy through competitive research, social analytics, platform determination, benchmarking, and audience identification to insure consistency and quality of content across all social media platforms.
  • Manages social media sites, plans and executes ongoing and onetime social media campaigns, and plays a major role in engaging and educating online and live audiences. The incumbent researches, writes, curates content, and posts text, photographs/images, videos, links, curricula, resources, and other data.
  • Plans and conducts ongoing online and live sessions via or about social media with a goal to educate internal and external audiences about content and how to use social media.
  • Supports ongoing online and live sessions about identity, race and social justice. The incumbent offers programming to engage audiences prior to and during museum programmatic activities.

Qualifications

Specialized Experience: Experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the occupation. Applicants who have the 1 year of appropriate specialized experience, are not required to have general experience, education above the high school level, or any additional specialized experience to meet the minimum qualification requirements.

For this position, specialized experience is defined as:

GS-11:  Utilizing multiple social media platforms and applications to update and monitor social media content for a museum, educational or cultural institution with a focus on Native American History or Culture; participating in the development of social media plans and strategies; and gathering information for assessing the effectiveness of social media efforts; 

OR; 

Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree; 

OR; 

3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree; 

OR; 

LL.M., if related;

OR;

Education can be used to substitute specialized experience for this position at the GS-11level.  At the GS-11 level applicant can substitute one year of specialized experience with a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree; OR; 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree; OR; LL.M., if related; OR Equivalent combinations of education and experience.

You will be evaluated for this job based on how well you meet the qualifications above.

Your application will be evaluated first for the basic qualifications described above. The applications that meet the basic qualifications will be evaluated further against the following criteria:

  1. Skill in analyzing and monitoring social media statistics and information in order to evaluate the effectiveness of an organization's social media outreach strategy.
  2. Ability to manage an organization's social media sites, such as Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, etc.
  3. Ability to plan, implement and analyze an organization's social media campaigns to identify, build and educate audiences and develop relationships.
  4. Knowledge of Native American and Indigenous history and culture of the Western Hemisphere to research, plan and support online and live programming about identity, race and social justice.
