Duties

Help

Incumbent will be responsible for the management of projects throughout the project management lifecycle (PMLC): initiating, planning, executing, monitor and control, and closing. During this lifecycle, the project manager is responsible for day-to-day management and oversight of the critical elements of programs and projects including scope, budget, risk, and schedule. Project management duties will include but are not limited to:

  • Using comprehensive technical knowledge to identify customers’ information systems requirements, from initiation and planning to execution and closing.
  • Working within a cross-organizational team to successfully resolve problems, achieve a common understanding of issues, and deliver needed results on requested IT systems.
  • Leading complex IT projects/programs, including application development efforts, systems upgrades and installations, technology outsourcing, IT security initiatives, etc.
  • Directing and overseeing a matrixed project team and efficiently identify and solving project issues (e.g. designing and conducting analytical studies, cost-benefit analyses, or other necessary research on all IT systems being procured).
  • Ensuring activities are completed in accordance with the project scope and within the approved schedule and budget constraints.
  • Demonstrating leadership to define requirements and plan project lifecycle deployment; defining resources and scheduling for project/program implementation, ensuring systems testing strategies, plans, or scenarios are completed on schedule.
  • Creating strategies for risk mitigation and contingency planning as well as planning and scheduling project deliverables, goals, and milestones for requested IT Systems.
  • Ensuring appropriate standard project practices and procedures are established and followed.
  • Coordinating with technology system analysts on IT-specific issues that may impact a project’s success Working with CORs to ensure that the activities of service providers support the PMLC and adhere to the System Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
  • Ensuring appropriate product-related training and documentation requirements for IT systems are developed and available to customers.
  • Effectively communicating to team members, supervisors, executive level leaders through presentations, online meetings, emails and various reporting methodologies.
  • Working within a cross-organizational team to successfully resolve problems, achieve a common understanding of issues, and deliver needed results on requested IT systems.

To qualify for this position you must demonstrate in your application that you possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to FV-I / FG/GS-13. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position.

Specialized experience may include but not limited to: Experience working in a leadership role on complex IT projects or programs throughout the Project Management Lifecycle (PMLC) including application development efforts, systems upgrades and installations, technology outsourcing, or IT security initiatives.
