Summary

Duties

Help

Incumbent serves as a Traffic Management Coordinator at an ATC-12 terminal facility and is responsible for ensuring that traffic management instructions/restrictions are initiated in accordance with established procedures to maintain a safe and expeditious flow of traffic and minimize the impact of heavy flight demands. Assesses the facility's capacity and projects an acceptable level of traffic.

Issues appropriate traffic flow restrictions to adjacent facilities, to space, hold, and reroute aircraft to distribute the flow of traffic and equalize workload among positions. Follows agency policy when implementing traffic management initiatives.

Maintains awareness of the traffic flow, equipment status, airport/weather conditions, and traffic forecasts to ensure acceptable levels of traffic, mitigate delays, and avoid flights into undesirable atmospheric conditions. Maintains familiarization of all phases of facility operations and aeronautical/meteorological conditions.

Maintains currency on required positions of operation.

Works under the administrative supervision of the Supervisory Traffic Management Coordinator. Performance is evaluated upon the effectiveness with which assigned program objectives are achieved.

Early Retirement Coverage. This position is covered by P.L. 92-297 for early retirement/good time purposes.

Requirement for Security Clearance: Selection and placement are contingent upon waiver or completion of satisfactory security requirements. For Moderate Risk (5), this position requires completion and favorable adjudication of a National Agency Check and Inquiry (NACI) background investigation prior to appointment, unless a waiver is obtained.

In addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, candidates may be rated in accordance with the instructions on the FAA Form 3330-43-1, "Rating of Air Traffic Experience for AT Transfer Program". The FAA Form 3330-43-1 must be signed by applicant and rating official to receive consideration. Rating and/or scoring of this form is not required. Forms that do not contain the signatures of the applicant and rating official will not be considered.



This is a bargaining unit position. This position is represented by NATCA: Air Traffic Mgmt Units & ATCSCC.
