Serves as a Store Associate in a commissary store at a Defense Commissary Agency (DeCA) facility. The primary purpose of this position is perform regular duties within their assigned area of responsibility in the Commissary. Employee can be rotated throughout the commissary (Front End, Grocery, etc.) to perform duties.
This is a developmental position. Work assignments are progressively complex and intended to broaden the incumbent's skills and provide practical experience to prepare the incumbent to perform at the target grade level.
Position responsibilities include:
Assist customers answering questions such as item price or location and handling bulky/ heavy items.
Operate an electronic checkout system to record unit price, total customer purchase and make correct change.
Perform a variety of duties in handling, preparing and maintaining stock levels of grocery and produce items.
Review stock levels and gather inventory data in order to maintain the Computer Assisted Ordering (CAO) system.
Prepare and maintain a variety of documents to order commissary items, reconcile invoices and submit requisitions.
Maintain security, safety and sanitation practices and procedures.
Non-competitive promotion is primarily dependent upon these conditions: (1) Incumbent demonstrates ability to perform at target grade level. (2) Higher level work exits at target grade level. (3) Increased responsibilities are assigned. (4) Supervisor recommends promotion. (5) Incumbent performs satisfactory in the current development position. Physical Requirements: The work involves frequent lifting, pushing, pulling, carrying, and handling of commissary products weighing up to forty (40) pounds without assistance.
Heavier products are moved with assistance from other workers or by using material-handling equipment. The work also involves prolonged standing, stooping, kneeling, bending, and climbing.
Work Environment: Performance of work in some areas of the commissary requires exposure to hot or cold weather or damp and drafty conditions.
The incumbent may be exposed to differences in temperatures in storing or obtaining items in refrigerated rooms or in the warehouse; or due to the opening and closing of doors.
There is a danger of minor injuries such as cuts, scrapes, bruises, heat sealer burns, and slipping on wet floors. The incumbent may also be exposed to the elements when outside the building when completing customer transactions or retrieving carts.

Qualifications
Your resume and supporting documents must show that you possess (A) 6 months of general experience, OR (B) 1 year of
education above high school that was complete in an accredited business, secretarial, technical school, junior college,
college or university, OR (C) a combination of experience and education that equals 100% of the qualification requirements.
To compute the percentage of experience and education you have that meets the qualification requirements, divide your total
months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours by 60. Add the two percentages. General experience is
progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates the ability to acquire the knowledge and skills needed to
perform the duties of this position.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service program (e.g.,
Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student,
social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and
