Help
  • You will coordinate with and advise civilian and military leadership on all aspects of planning, review, and resource requirements related to Electromagnetic Maneuver Warfare (EMW) product creation and instructional training development.
  • You will advise leadership on policy, planning, implementation, and review training related to EMW programs.
  • You will monitoring the overall effectiveness of the EMW program across the command and the Meteorology and Oceanography (METOC) Community, Analyze problems and identify trends to develop and/or revise policies and procedures.
  • You will apply professional skill and critical thinking towards solving educational, training, and operational program problems.
  • You will apply procedures, requirements, regulations and policies to enable leadership to make sound personnel and resource management decisions and address training, doctrine, and developmental needs.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • You may be required to serve a 2 year probationary period.
  • This position is eligible for part time, full time or ad-hoc telework at the discretion of management.
  • Occasional CONUS and OCONUS travel, less than 25%, may be required.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a U.S. Passport.
  • Occasional evening and weekend work may be required.
  • Incumbent will embark shipboard visits for periods less than 24 hours.

Qualifications

In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:

  • Evaluate, author, update, and enforce policies and procedures, curricula, instructional methods and techniques, personnel qualification, adequacy and utilization of training aids, facilities, equipment, and testing as the senior Electromagnetic Maneuver Warfare (EMW) Subject Matter Expert (SME).
  • Development and administration of surveys to obtain feedback from personnel, end users, supervisors, instructors, and scientists.
  • Ensures METOC information in support of global EMW support is considered and integrated at all levels of planning.
  • Identify the need for special projects and initiate milestones and goals.
  • Evaluate reports by analyzing facts and performing appropriate research and pre prepare detailed responses.

Education


Applicants must meet the following Basic Requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Applicants must possess: (TRANSCRIPTS ARE REQUIRED)

General Physical Science Series, 1301 A. Degree: physical science, engineering, or mathematics that included 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science such as mechanics, dynamics, properties of materials, and electronics,

OR

B. Combination of education and experience -- education equivalent to one of the majors shown in A above that included at least 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science, plus appropriate experience or additional education.

Meteorology Series, 1340: A. Degree: meteorology, atmospheric science, or other natural science major that included:

1. At least 24 semester (36 quarter) hours of credit in meteorology/atmospheric science including a minimum of:
a. Six semester hours of atmospheric dynamics and thermodynamics;*
b. Six semester hours of analysis and prediction of weather systems (synoptic/mesoscale);
c. Three semester hours of physical meteorology; and
d. Two semester hours of remote sensing of the atmosphere and/or instrumentation.

2. Six semester hours of physics, with at least one course that includes laboratory sessions.*
3. Three semester hours of ordinary differential equations.*
4. At least nine semester hours of course work appropriate for a physical science major in any combination of three or more of the following: physical hydrology, statistics, chemistry, physical oceanography, physical climatology, radiative transfer, aeronomy, advanced thermodynamics, advanced electricity and magnetism, light and optics, and computer science.

* There is a prerequisite or corequisite of calculus for course work in atmospheric dynamics and thermodynamics, physics, and differential equations. Calculus courses must be appropriate for a physical science major.

OR

B. Combination of education and experience -- course work as shown in A. above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.

Oceanography Series, 1360. Degree: major study of at least 24 semester hours in oceanography or a related discipline such as physics, meteorology, geophysics, mathematics, chemistry, engineering, geology, or biology, plus 20 additional semester hours in any combination of oceanography, physics, geophysics, chemistry, mathematics, meteorology, computer science, and engineering sciences.

OR

B. Combination of education and experience -- course work as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. Applicants who qualify on the basis of major study in biology or geology must have had at least 6 semester hours in the major directly concerned with marine science or 6 semester hours in oceanography; applicants who qualify on the basis of other physical sciences or engineering must have had differential and integral calculus and at least 6 semester hours in physics.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The work require minor physical demand.

There may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items, up to 40 pounds, to include supplies, computer systems, monitors, and/or other equipment typically handled by one person.

Work may involve operating or driving government vehicles.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The work area is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated.

The environment may require long (12-hour) shifts, including overnight and weekends.

This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program.
