The primary purpose of the position is to ensure supplies and materials are distributed to all areas serviced by Logistics. Leads three or more GS-2005 employees in the distribution area to provide wards, clinics, operating rooms, secondary storage locations, and other hospital facilities with supplies and material including, but not limited to, sterile and non-sterile medical supplies, instruments sets, and equipment.

1st AOC: Current and permanent employees of the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center and its Community Based Outpatient Clinics. 2d AOC: All other Department of Veterans Affairs employees.
Assignments include but are not limited to:
-Scanning, bar-coding, receiving, storing, and the distribution of medical and surgical supplies, instruments, and other material.
- Distributes and balances the workload among employees in accordance with established workflow or job specialization and assures timely accomplishment of assigned workload.
- Monitors status and progress of work, makes day-to-day adjustments in accordance with established priorities. Obtains assistance from the supervisor on problems that may arise, such as backlogs which cannot be disposed of promptly.
- Estimates and reports on expected time of completion of work.
- Instructs employees in specific tasks and job techniques and make available written instructions, reference materials and supplies.
- Gives on the job training to new employees in accordance with established procedures and practices.
- Maintains current knowledge and answers questions of other employees on procedures, policies, directives, or other guidelines as necessary and obtains needed information or decisions from supervisor on problems that come up.
- Checks on work in progress or spot checks work not requiring review. Reviews completed work to see that supervisor instructions on work sequence, procedures, methods and deadlines have been met.
- Monitors working conditions.
- Resolves simple, informal complaints of employees and refers others to supervisor.
- Approves leave for a few hours or for emergencies
