The incumbent serves as Lead Medical Technologist for the Evening/Midnight section of the VA Tennessee Valley Healthcare System Clinical Laboratory, Nashville Campus. The Lead Medical Technologist facilitates team or unit processes by working in collaboration with team members to ensure that tasks, priorities, goals and achievements are coordinated with management.

The Lead Medical Technologist for preparation and maintenance of records and reports, analysis of testing methodologies, training, instrumentation and compliance and other duties to include, but not limited to:
Applies clinical laboratory knowledge to a wide range of duties to solve complex problems.
Maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs laboratory instrumentation.
Evaluates and solves problems related to collection and processing of biological specimens.
Assists supervisor in quality control/quality assurance activities in the section.
Responsible for the expedition of emergency and special requests when supervisor is unavailable.
Assists the supervisory in developing new or updated operating procedures.
Works as a bench Medical Technologist as needed and performs duties assigned to technologists in the section, when needed.
Work Schedule: Sunday-Thursday, 11:00pm-7:00am, occasional weekend and holidays.
