  • You may be appointed to a permanent, temporary, or time-limited appointment, depending on available positions.
  • You must be a United States Citizen or National.
  • You must successfully pass a security/background investigation and drug screening.
  • Schedule A appointments are in the Excepted Service and may require successful completion of an initial 2-year trial period before you are eligible for conversion to a permanent competitive service appointment.
  • Selective Service registration is required for certain individuals. See the announcement for full details.
  • You must be eligible for a Schedule A appointment and submit the required Schedule A supporting documentation (e.g., proof of disability, prior to beginning work).

Qualifications

The position's qualification requirements will vary depending on the position, if you are selected. If you submit your application package to this announcement, your qualifications will be assessed based on the occupational series you choose when you submit your on-line application.

Most positions at grade 7 and above will require related or equivalent experience (such as, technical or specialty work performed with or without assistance, or with minimal supervision), or require a basic knowledge of the primary function, program, or task. You may be considered for multiple grades and/or occupational series as shown in the Duties section of this announcement.

Education

Educational requirements will vary by position, occupational series, hiring office, and grade level. To make sure you receive the best possible consideration for positions with the JMD, we encourage you to provide your unofficial transcript with your application package, if necessary.

Education must be reviewed and certified by an accrediting institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education in order for it to be creditable toward your qualifications. Therefore, you should provide only the attendance and/or degrees from schools accredited by accrediting institutions recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.

Foreign Education: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show that the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.For more information about this requirement, please visit the U.S. Department of Education website for Foreign Education Evaluation.
