As Pathways Student Medical/Health Intern, you will be responsible for performing routine clerical or administrative support duties, such as:
Making copies, filing, entering data or collecting data.
Maintaining and managing correspondence.
Assisting in the preparation of computer generated reports.
Utilizing automated systems and software applications.
Student Internship program: These positions are being filled under the Pathways-Internship Program, which provides opportunities for high school, vocational and technical, undergraduate, graduate and professional students to gain work experience while pursuing their education.
Position Duration/Expectation: HRSA is seeking qualified internal student employees to participate in the Pathways Internship Program under indefinite appointments. Appointment is based on continued needs/funds for the position and your continued compliance in the Pathways Intern Program. This is a developmental program while you complete your education. After successful completion of the program requirements, you may be non-competitively converted to a term position (not to exceed 1-4 years), or a permanent position in the competitive service. However, in some situations a conversion may not be a guarantee.
Work Schedule: You may work a full-time or part-time schedule. Part-time hours are typically 16-32 hours per week. The work schedule will be established so that it does not interfere with the academic schedule during the school year.

PATHWAYS STUDENT INTERN PROGRAM ELIGIBILITY: You MUST be either currently enrolled, or accepted for enrollment into a qualifying educational program beginning the next available school term to qualify for this program. Enrollment must be in an accredited high school, community college, vocational or technical program, undergraduate, graduate, or professional program that culminates in a diploma, certificate or degree.
Employees selected for this position are eligible for promotion up to the GS-9 grade level while in the Pathways Program and up to the GS-12 grade level after successful completion of the Program.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
GS-5: Completed 4 academic years of post-high school leading to a bachelor's degree or equivalent degree.
GS-7: Completed 1 full academic year of graduate level education; OR
Eligibility under the Superior Academic Achievement Provision and completion of a bachelor's degree.
TYPING REQUIREMENT: Applicants for this position must be a qualified typist (at least 40 words per minute).
Grade-point averages will be rounded to one decimal place. For example, 2.95 will round to 3.0 and 2.94 will round to 2.9.
