As a Supply Specialist, you will perform program support and supply analytical duties in one or more supply program areas.

Position Location: Federal Acquisition Service, Cataloging and Customer Service, 2300 Main St, KC MO.

Cataloging and Customer Service is responsible for processing cataloging and supply support requests.

We are currently filling one vacancy; additional vacancies may be filled as needed.

Duties

Help

Your major responsibilities will include:

  • Processes cataloging and supply support requests from GSA Centers and from other Federal agencies.
  • Prepares and submits routine and/or difficult item identification transactions for the full range of items within all commodity areas.  This includes screening for duplicate items based on part number/ characteristics data and technical research, and validation of the data required to complete assigned cataloging actions.  
  • Assists other supply and procurement personnel in resolving routine and/or complex technical issues/problems related to item descriptions and item maintenance data requirements required for cataloging and supply support request processing. 
  • Reviews and/or evaluates the existing cataloging data records, in selected areas, to determine whether or not data corrections and/or upgrades are required.
  • Recommends and/or develops revisions to cataloging tools such as item names, Federal Supply Class (FSCs) and Federal Item Identification Guides (FIIGs). 
  • Provides input and/or evaluates the impact of new or revised specifications and/or product requirements will have on existing supply items in the cataloging system and initiates actions accordingly.
  • Reviews and comments on proposed revisions to cataloging tools submitted by other agencies or other GSA activities/ personnel that may have an impact and/or significant impact on GSA cataloging operations.
  • Assists other Federal agencies and industry representatives in interpreting cataloging data, in understanding cataloging processes, and in the resolution cataloging issues and/or complex cataloging problems.

The GS-11 salary range starts at $64,660 per year. First time appointees to Federal civilian service have their salary set at the beginning rate of the grade for which they are selected; unless prior approval has been received to adjust the salary based on superior qualifications of the applicant.

The GS-12 salary range starts at $77,501 per year.  First time appointees to Federal civilian service have their salary set at the beginning rate of the grade for which they are selected; unless prior approval has been received to adjust the salary based on superior qualifications of the applicant.

You must meet all qualification and eligibility requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement. To qualify, you must demonstrate one year of specialized experience at the next lowest grade level in the Federal Service for each grade level.

To qualify at the GS-11 level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 level or higher in the Federal service. Specialized experience is experience applying supply principles, concepts, and methodologies in order to research, analyze and resolve issues and problems in two or more of the following specialty supply areas: supply program management; inventory management; distribution facilities and storage management; packaging; and supply cataloging.

OR

  • Have a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or have successfully completed 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M., if related.

To qualify at the GS-12 level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level or higher in the Federal service. Specialized experience is experience researching, analyzing, and evaluating the effectiveness and efficiency of supply programs and/or operations in two or more of the following specialty supply areas: supply program management; inventory management; distribution facilities and storage management; packaging; and supply cataloging. Such experience must have included developing solutions to resolve complex supply issues and problems.

  1. Knowledge of one or more supply functions, such as supply systems analysis, supply customer service, supply item specification development, standardization, commodity management functions, cataloging,  GSA Supply catalog, in order to provide supply items to customer agencies.
  2. Knowledge of a broad range of supply program relationships in order to determine and consider supply program changes and their impact on other Center processes.
  3. Knowledge of specialized supply methods and techniques in order to analyze and evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of supply programs and operations.
  4. Ability to communicate orally and in writing in order to promote Center policies, programs and procedures to customer agencies, and to present and justify program changes necessary to resolve operating problems.
