As an IT Specialist, you will:
- Provide 24x7x365 technical support for all systems and services to support the Fiscal Service enterprise mainframe connectivity. Perform the installation, testing, maintenance, and upgrading of equipment and software supporting the Mainframe Connectivity service provided within Fiscal Services data centers and secure areas.
- Install the necessary mainframe connectivity hardware/software and configure the hardware/software to ensure the security, interoperability and interconnectivity to and from each component.
- Evaluate mainframe connectivity hardware/software to test, modify, or improve existing mainframe connectivity services for Fiscal Service and implement new systems of greater complexity.
- Evaluate ancillary hardware/software to improve existing mainframe connectivity services for Fiscal Service. This includes technology supporting areas such as mainframe connectivity monitoring, security, capacity, and performance.
- Review legislation, regulatory policy, and procedural changes for impact on existing mainframe connectivity technologies. Submit recommendations based on these reviews to optimize security and utilization of existing mainframe connectivity systems.

You must meet the following requirements within 30 days after the closing date of this announcement.
For the GS-12, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-11 level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes experience performing IT system administration work that involves planning and coordinating the installation, configuration, testing, implementation, and management of the systems environment in order to support the organizations IT architecture and business needs, connectivity requirements, risks, and costs.
Examples of such experience could include:
- Experience testing, optimizing, and/or providing maintenance on an enterprise level mainframe system; OR
- Experience responding to IT mainframe incidents, troubleshooting, and assisting in system outage recovery; OR
- Experience in communicating Mainframe System information to a wide variety of audiences; OR
- Experience as a mainframe system programmer.
AND
In addition to meeting specialized experience, applicants must have proficiency in each of the four competencies listed below.
-Problem Solving, such as providing 24x7x365 technical support for an organizations mainframe IT enterprise system.
-Attention to Detail, such as reviewing and following installation guides and standard operating procedures for impact on existing Mainframe System technologies.
-Customer Service, such as providing technical support pertaining to enterprise Mainframe System service.
-Oral Communication, such as serving as a mainframe enterprise systems technical point-of-contact.
In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable:
For the GS-12, you must have been at the GS-11level for 52 weeks.
