The Incumbent serves as the Supervisory Librarian for the Medical Library in the Education Services at the Orlando VA Medical Center. The Supervisory Librarian is delegated full responsibility for the administration management and operation of the Medical Library. The Librarian establishes the scope and extent of the library programs and the services through the development of policies and operating procedures, library budget, and effective utilization of personnel, equipment and space.

The Medical Center Supervisory Librarian has full responsibility for the administration, management, and operation of the Medical Library. The incumbent uses knowledge of the theories, concepts, and practices by which information is classified licensed and accessed, including electronic bibliographic and full-text databases and networks. The librarian continuously monitors and evaluates the quality of library services, initiates non-recurring request for personnel and program funding; researches and develops projects concerned with improvement of library programs. The library program covers knowledge-based information resources and services necessary to support the varied teaching disciplines and special programs active at the Orlando VA Healthcare System, including medical and clinical research, teaching, and patient education.
