Recommend outreach strategies and policies to promote National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) programs and provide information about National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) to the general public and media. Implements relevant actions to support and achieve DOE/NNSA goals concerning public awareness and public communications formats that allow communication both internally and among state, local, and community groups.
Advise NNSA management on the preparation and implementation of program and communication initiatives and activities that are consistent with corporate communications goals to reach targeted and broad-based audiences.
Serves as a primary spokesperson for NNSA.
Prepare the Administrator and senior NNSA management officials for public meetings and media interviews by developing talking points, background information, and other pertinent material.
Accompany NNSA officials to public meetings, interviews, and other events to discuss NNSA programs and activities.
Must be able to obtain/maintain a Q level Security Clearance.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
A qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower NNSA pay band or GS grade level (NQ-02 or GS-12) in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position is defined as: Public Affairs experience working on national security and/or nuclear security related matters.

Skill in application of the principles, practices, methods, and techniques of public communications, media relations, and outreach activities in order to plan, coordinate, and carry out such activities, and serve as the technical authority on such matters.
Skill in writing/editing documents, including reports, communications plans, briefings and presentations, functional descriptions, guidelines, special reports, and other project deliverables to meet communication requirements.
Make oral presentations in order to conduct meetings designed to obtain public input on program issues and develop a consensus position from among divergent viewpoints.
Establishing and fostering working relationships and interaction with a variety of audiences with differing levels of comprehension and interests including the media, and the general public.
