Summary

The Nurse Practitioner performs the following major duties:
Field Support Case Management: Performs a wide range of functions in assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating individual health care plans for medically evacuated Volunteers. Provides care based on current medical assessments and standard operating procedures. Determines case disposition of a medically evacuated Volunteer.
Serves as an Information Source: Acts as primary liaison with critical persons and groups both inside and outside the agency; exercising full commitment authority
Performs Quality Improvement Activities: Develops, plans for, and conducts on-site monitoring visits at posts to assess the quality and effectiveness of health services. Participates in and contributes to OMS's quality improvement initiatives, and responds to requests from country and region regarding quality issues.
Provides Training Services: Assists in the orientation of new medical and nursing personnel to support overseas medical and non-medical country staff. Designs and conducts periodic training regarding polocies, procedures, and guidelines.
Peace Corps Manual Section 611 is applicable to this position. This section prohibits the employment of certain persons previously engaged in intelligence activities or connected with intelligence agencies within the past 10 years. Qualifications
You must meet the specialized experience at the grade level(s) in which you choose to be considered by 11:59 p.m. Eastern Standard Time (EST) on the closing date of the announcement. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. To ensure full credit for your experience, please indicate dates of employment by month, day, and year and the number of hours worked per week in your resume.

FP-3
Qualifying experience for the FP-3 level includes one year of specialized experience at least equivalent to the FP-4 or GS-11/12 level which is in or directly related to the line of work of the position to be filled and which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience includes: Experience assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating individual health care plans; Experience providing support as a resource for health policies and procedures; Experience designing and conducting periodic training regarding policies, procedures and guidelines; Experience planning on site monitoring visits to assess the quality and effectiveness of health services.

Successful completion of a PhD or equivalent doctoral degree from a professional nursing educational program or related medical science field; or
At least one full year of professional nursing experience (equivalent to the GS-9 grade level) and possession of a diploma, associate degree, bachelor’s degree, or master’s degree from a professional nursing educational program.

For all grade levels and positions, applicants must have passed the National Council Licensure Examination (external link). In addition, they must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
In addition to the above requirements, applicants must meet one of the following requirements:
Successful completion of a PhD or equivalent doctoral degree from a professional nursing educational program or related medical science field; or
At least one full year of professional nursing experience (equivalent to the GS-9 grade level) and possession of a diploma, associate degree, bachelor’s degree, or master’s degree from a professional nursing educational program.
Desired License Requirements:
Must have a valid, unrestricted Nurse Practitioner license in one of the 50 states (or US territory such as Puerto Rico)
